Durability

In the wild

Built for rocky rivers, shallow water, rough landings, and paddling in the places where durability matters, ROC is a layup that offers expedition-level confidence throughout years of repeated use. ROC is named for our home city of Rochester, New York — locally known as “ROC.” The name also echoes rocks: enduring, resilient, and shaped to last.

Kevlar

A puncture resistant backbone- proven tough over decades

Carbon Fiber

Aerospace grade stiffness and strength

Built to Take a Beating. Designed to Be Seen.

ROC was engineered first for durability — impact resistance, abrasion tolerance, and long-term reliability. It’s a layup meant to work hard for decades.

But strength doesn’t have to look industrial.

We chose fabrics that not only perform under abuse, but also create a distinct visual character inside and out. The result is a boat that feels purposeful, not utilitarian — durable without sacrificing beauty.

Exterior construction

The exterior of the ROC layup features a carbon / Innegra twill weave.

The carbon fiber provides stiffness and structural integrity. Innegra adds toughness and peace of mind. Woven together in a twill pattern, the fabric creates a geometric, high-tech appearance with subtle depth.

It looks fast. It looks intentional. And it reflects the modern composite construction beneath it.

Exterior finish options

ROC offers three exterior coating choices. Each provides protection — the difference is visual character and how much of the fabric you want to reveal.

Solid Gel Coat

A traditional, opaque finish applied over the exterior fabric.

Gel coat provides excellent abrasion resistance and a classic canoe appearance. If you prefer a solid color hull with timeless appeal and proven durability, this is the traditional choice.

UV-Resistant Clear Coat

A high-performance clear finish that reveals the carbon / Innegra weave beneath it.

This option showcases the modern composite fabric while adding UV protection and additional surface durability. It preserves the high-tech aesthetic while protecting it from sun exposure and everyday wear.

Clear Top with Gel Coat Waterline Patch

Clear coat above the waterline. Gel coat below.

This hybrid approach highlights the woven exterior where it’s most visible, while adding a durable gel-coated bottom where the boat sees the most abrasion. A practical balance of performance, protection, and aesthetics.

Interior options

ROC gives you two interior fabric options. Both deliver durability. The difference is visual personality.

Carbon/Innegra twill (matched to exterior)

Selecting carbon / Innegra on the interior creates a unified, technical look throughout the hull.

The geometric twill pattern carries from outside to inside, giving the boat a cohesive, modern composite aesthetic. Clean. Precise. Purpose-built.

This option emphasizes stiffness and structural continuity while maintaining a distinctly high-performance feel.

It’s still a workhorse layup, but with a look that will make your paddling pals jealous.

Basalt / Innegra Co-Mingle

The basalt / Innegra co-mingled fabric offers the same impact-focused durability with a different visual tone.

Basalt fibers introduce warm, earthy color variation and a more organic weave character. The result feels less “technical” and more natural — almost rustic — while retaining the strength ROC is built around.

It’s still a workhorse layup. It just carries a little more warmth and texture.
